A new project..

At the end of our street is the most lovely old stone house
with the prettiest blue shutters.
As spring moves towards summer it is starting to look even prettier,
with plants growing up the front walls, ready to cover it in flowers.

A few years ago I dabbled in landscape quilting,
with the help of this book..
This gorgeous house has made me want to start this type of quilting again..

I need to make it with the blinds open
and I think I need to add some flowers climbing up the old stone walls,
but I can imagine it already..

Curtains..

One of the projects I really wanted to do in our new home
(we moved here in February)
is to make my own curtains.
At the top of the stairs on the second floor
(makes my house sound really big, when really it isn't!)
there is a roof window with no curtains.
This means that little man has light streaming into his bedroom
during nap time, which is a recipe for disaster!

I used a fabulous scrap piece I found on ebay
(I do love my scrap hunting!)
to make this very jungle-y curtain..

As you can see it works so well at blocking out the light that the photo is pretty terrible!!
I'm still trying to find a way to permanently fix it to the window, but for now a strip of double sided sticky tape is doing the job!

Squares and robots!

Remember the WIPS I showed you a while back?
Well I finally got around to making my little man's cushion with the blue patchwork square.
It was more out of necessity than actually being organised, but at least another thing is ticked off of my to-do-list!!

I'd bought the robot material as part of a scrap bundle on ebay
last year, so it was just a case of finding some matching fabric
and then tying it all in.

I tried a fancy stitch on my machine for the back of the cushion,
but I'm a bit disappointed with how it turned out!

Never mind, little man loves it and that's what counts!!

Mint Chocolate Ice Cream with sprinkles!

With the most beautiful chocolate coloured backing and a light green binding this quilt is as delicious as a mint chocolate ice cream!
I promise it's a lot warmer though, with all of that soft, warm minky fabric!
My youngest daughter is over the moon with her new quilt, just right for the chilly autumn mornings..
